Happy New Year, everyone! We hope you’ve all had an exciting start to 2018, as we certainly have. Our team has been hard at work improving the functionality of two popular features you can use in your web push campaigns. It is now easier than ever to add in custom attributes and emojis to your notifications- just use our quick picker!
Personalization in marketing continues to dominate, with 80% of marketers agreeing it is much more effective than content that is not personalized. An easy way to make your web push notifications even more personalized is by utilizing custom attributes. These attributes help you improve your notifications by passing along certain variables, such as a user’s name, age, or what device they are using.
Instead of having to type out the entire command yourself, you can now simply type “{” to bring up our new custom attribute generator.
Scroll through the list of attributes and select the one you wish to use. Include your fallback text if you want (which will display if there is no attribute for the given subscriber) and click Insert. You can include custom attributes in the title, body, or link of your notifications.
Keep in mind, before you can use custom attributes in your notifications you have to first set them up at your website. Read our guide if you need more help.
We have had emoji support for over a year now, but our quick picker will make the selection process even easier for you. With so many to choose from, it can be time consuming to scroll through the entire list to find the one that is perfect for your notification. Now, simply press “:” to call up our emoji generator. You can also press the emoji icon located at the end of both the Title and Body text boxes to pull up the list.
Once the list is pulled up, start typing what you are looking for to easily find it and add in to your notification. Looking for a smiley face? Cat? Dog? Shopping Bag? You get the idea. This feature should save you a lot of time and encourage you to use emojis more than you may have in the past.
Hootsuite put together a complete guide to using emojis if you are looking for some guidance. While you don’t want to go overboard, using them is an easy way to better connect with your audience and boost your CTRs.
There you have it! We hope this update makes the web push experience even easier for you. Are there other new features you are hoping to see? Let us know! Comment below or send us an email.
