Increase Conversions With These 5 Automated Web Push Notifications

When it comes to increasing conversions, we all know how much work that can take. It is not only time consuming, it also requires a lot of mental energy that you would likely rather spend on other areas of your business. Yes, in order to stay successful, you need to make sales. And you want sales, of course. But how you get them is where things get tricky.

Thankfully, the past few years has brought about major change and innovation to how we generate more sales. We’re talking about automation! With automated marketing, you are able to optimize your efforts, spending less time on repetitive tasks, and more time on innovating new products, new content, or on furthering your customer relationships.

Why automate?

A recent study found that a majority of marketers (nearly 75%) list that saving time was the biggest benefit of marketing automation. Automation will certainly do just that, which is why so many companies are turning to it. It sounds almost too good to be true- save time while increasing conversions? Who would say no to that?

While no one would outright say no to increased sales due to marketing automation, the reality is that many marketers are still hesitant to get started with it due to fear of how it works. In fact, in that same study, more than 85% of respondents said that ‘ease of use’ was the most important factor when selecting a marketing automation tool.

We totally get that. There’s nothing worse than getting incredibly excited about a new marketing tool, only to settle in and realize that you have absolutely no idea how it works. Thankfully, when it comes to web push notifications, you’ve got tons of automation opportunities that are easy to set up and that will help you increase your conversions.

Looking for some inspiration? We’ve got you covered. Here are some awesome automated web push notifications you should try out. They are sure to increase your conversion rates, and best of all, they are campaigns you can get set up quickly and easily.

Abandoned Carts

There is no way we could talk about automation and increasing conversions without talking about abandoned cart campaigns. They are one of the best ways to boost your sales because they capitalize on users who are clearly very interested in your products. These users didn’t just head to your website and research your products- they went so far as to add them to their cart. These users are highly valuable to you- do not let them slip through your fingers.

The average cart abandonment rate is around 70%. While you can’t expect to reclaim 100% of those carts that were abandoned, you can reclaim some. There are numerous reasons why people abandon their carts, but what matters here is that you go after each one of them to try and finish the sale.

You’ve got no reason to not set up this campaign. Simply set it up once and determine what you want your delay to be. Most research agrees that you should send your campaign fairly quickly- say no more than 30 minutes after the user abandoned their cart. That way, your items are still fresh in their mind and they are less likely to have already gone and purchased from somewhere else.

Looking to sweeten the deal? Include some type of incentive like a discount code or free gift with purchase in order to convince your subscribers to come back and finish their transaction.

Abandoned Product Page

Another very valuable segment of your audience is those who looked at your products but did not commit to purchasing or adding them to their cart. These users have an increased interest in your brand, seeing as they went past introductory pages like your homepage or an about page, and looked at your actual products.

Target them with an automated campaign! You can easily set up a campaign to trigger when someone abandons a certain page. In fact, you aren’t just limited to product pages. Do you have a page at your site, perhaps a blog post, that describes the value of a certain product of yours? That may also be a valuable trigger page.

Keep in mind that you always have your analytics to check in with. Regularly monitor your automated campaigns and see which are working best. For the ones that aren’t converting as well, consider either changing the trigger (perhaps a different page) or changing the campaign itself (consider adding an incentive).

Bonus: Item Back in Stock

Looking to really boost your sales? We recommend sending a campaign to users who viewed a product that was out of stock. Once it comes back in stock, send a campaign to let them know! While this isn’t technically an automated campaign, it’s a quick way to retarget those users who are interested in that particular product. All you have to do is send the campaign to the correct segment of users who viewed that particular product. Easy!

Thank You Post Sale

Thanking a customer for their business is one of the simplest, yet most effective things you can do. After all, you shouldn’t devote all of your energy towards acquiring new customers. Customer retention is deserving of a good chunk of your time. Loyal customers work wonders for your business.

Did you know that it costs about 5 times more to acquire a new customer than to retain an existing one? It is also estimated that around 65% of a company’s business will come from previous customers rather than first time buyers.

You retention efforts should start right away after a customer shops with you. Thank them for their business, and offer them something that gets them excited about shopping with you again! This could be access to a rewards program, a coupon code, or a referral program link (more on that next).

Referral Program

We briefly mentioned referral programs, but they are deserving of their own section because of how powerful they can be on increasing sales. In fact, research shows that referred customers tend to be more loyal and can bring profit margins up as much as 25%.

We highly recommend that you set up your own referral program if you haven’t already. There are plenty of tool options out there (here’s a list we created that features one) that will help you set up and run your referral program.

Once your program is up and running, create some automated campaigns that will help remind your customers to refer their friends and family! Consider setting up a repeating notification, for example, that will automatically send according to the schedule that you set (either daily, weekly, or monthly).

Review Request

Finally, one of the best ways to secure future purchases from customers is to increase your number of reviews. When is the last time you bought something online without first looking at the reviews? Reviews are essential and are sure to help you increase your conversions.

Getting reviews can be difficult, especially if you are a new brand. We recommend sending an automated campaign to anyone who purchases from you asking them to review their order. Not only will this help you get more reviews, it’ll also give you valuable customer feedback that you can incorporate into your business.

Research shows that over 70% of customers will not take action until they have read reviews. If you don’t have reviews, chances are your audience won’t take action. Don’t let that happen! Don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for a review. Customers today understand how important they are and while all of your customers likely won’t add one, many will be happy to, and long term this will have a major positive impact on your brand and your sales.

Wrapping Up

You’ve got plenty of automated web push notifications that you can send to your audience in order to increase your conversions. From pre-sale campaigns targeting abandoned carts or product pages, to post-sale follow ups thanking your customers, requesting reviews, or reminding them of your referral program, there’s a lot that you can and should be doing in order to engage your audience and increase your sales. Best of all, because you can automate these campaigns, you don’t have to worry about dedicating a major chunk of time to these initiatives.
